Happy New Year!

Ok so It's been the new year for a few weeks now, but hey, I'm somewhat of a slacker and that's ok!  Of course, talking about the new year means talking about resolutions.  I hate the word "resolutions" so I'm just going to call them goals.  Resolutions always seem to get broken and then you feel like, "Dang, I guess I'll try again next year," while goals can always be cooking, even if it's on the back burner on "low" for a little bit.

One of my goals this year is to read the Old Testament.  I have read every other book of scripture except the Old Testament.  I got a bit of a head start on it before the year started so if I can just read about an average of 3 pages each day, I can have it read by the end of the year!  I am so excited!  I just started in on Numbers a couple days ago, so things look to be on track so far.  If I get behind some days, Sundays are a great catch up day.

Another one of my goals is to not "yell" so much.  The reason I put yell in quotations is because in my head, I am not "yelling" I am just speaking more authoritatively. :)  Brandon, however, hears it as yelling.  And if he hears yelling, I'm sure my kids will to.  So I am trying to nip this in the bud right now!  The way we are doing this is every time I "yell" or Brandon thinks I am "yelling" we whisper.  I know, sounds kind of silly, but it is actually working really well!  We have been feeling more of a spirit of love in our family and home.

So anyways, now to the pictures!

He is just so excited for a new year to begin!

Wearing his Happy New Year hat!

Dallin played with some rice in a bowl that night!  He loved how it felt and looked and was just amazed at it's seemingly magical properties.

We made quite a mess.  :)

Such a cute boy!

After Dallin went to bed, we invited our neighbors over to ring in the new year with us!

...

We played Mario Party on the Wii.

Then counted down and celebrated with some sparkling grape juice at midnight.

And then we threw a pumpkin....

... into the parking lot.  Happy New Year everyone!
